Sunday 16th February, 2020 by Claire Lodge.

It’s an age old question in computer technology circles, which can be the best antivirus security software meant for Windows? With the newer virus engines being released on a regular basis, it’s really difficult to keep up with them all.

It is actually normal with regards to security industry professionals to continually make changes to their know-how base to ensure they are updated. The new contamination engines hold changing too, which makes it unachievable to keep up with them all. You might think you’ve gotten reduce the computer, but the new version may possibly simply be a disguised Trojan.

We read for two reasons: it is interesting and it is useful. What is more necessary? Should we read for pleasure or strain our memory, trying to keep in mind all the helpful information? I will share my opinion, and several interviewed experts’ thoughts.

Extracting Quotations

If you read electronic books, for instance in Bookmate, it will be easier to do, because in this application you’re able to create citations, simply marking some part of the text and clicking “Quote” button.

When I promised myself to read 52 books for 52 weeks, I copied out quotations using Evernote, creating a separate note for each book. Such method also has the right to exist. It’s longer and far more difficult but on the other hand your citations will be saved right along.

Looking Through Quotations

Having read a book, open your worksheet and look through quotations you’ve written out. They will fresh your memory and you will recollect even those facts that were not in your extraction. You should open your quotation worksheet at least once in a few weeks. For example, if you confront with the problem of being unable to organize your schedule, open the book you’ve read about time-nanagement and glance over basic thoughts. Associating the Most Significant Moments with Reality

I will try to explain what I mean. A long time ago I read a book called “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle maintenance”. I did not like it. But it had several very interesting thoughts that I wanted to memorize. For instance:
“Do you know how to paint a perfect picture? It’s simple. Make yourself perfect, and then just paint it naturally.”
“Truth is knocking at the door, and you say “Go away! I am looking for the truth”. And it goes away.”

I wanted them to stay in my memory forever. That is why I wrote them out on the blank sheet of paper, looked at them for a while and, having got inspired, wrote a small note. Thus they remain in my memory as I have associated them with the real life and expressed my opinion, even though I did it to myself.

It is not obligatory to write down a composition based on the quotes you like. You can memorize them in other ways. For example, you can print them and pin on a fridge door or make yourself a sport shirt with a print.

I’ve interviewed a few persons whose opinions were interesting to me. That’s what they have responded.

Alex, Editor in Chief

Usually I read books with a particular aim. For instance, before publishing my book, I read books on health, sport and food topics. After that I start reading books on financial management and administration as it has come to be clear that the business is growing and our knowledge is not enough – you cannot do all the stuff by yourself. Then I read books on sales, because I needed some pieces of advice – I’ve raised the level and enlarged sales. Now I read books that I need for my second book. Thus every book is a new step for a certain aim. I do not take into account somebody’s opinion. I do not read a book only because someone praises it or advices it to me. That is what concerns non-fiction. If talking about fiction everything is chaotic: sometimes it’s Remarque’s about the war, sometimes Khaled Hosseini’s about Islamic world, sometimes Akunin’s about history of Russia or Subtelny’s about history of Ukraine. Now and then I reread classics I could not understand at school: “Lolita”, “Gobseck” and everything of that kind.

Speaking about storing information I do not write in worksheets and do not pack everything on Evernote. I trust my mind and I am sure that I will memorize only the things I need. All the rest is trash, and I will leave its gathering for others. I collect information only during preparations for my book; it’s a complicated process of selecting the necessary from books, articles, conversations, video and audio information. I do it using Evernote or the tag system in OS X.

I think there’s no need to memorize, we should try to take in, make out, analyze.
My advices are simple:

1. Study yourself, your feelings at the time of reading. What happens to you, why a certain emotion is so overwhelming?

2. Do not hurry. It’s better to read one page a day, relishing and not missing a single moment. Do not set the aim to read particular books. In reading as in life the process and content are important, and not the aim and the number of the pages read.

3. Leave the book, if you feel that it is “not yours”. And again you should not put the aim to read the book up to the end – value your time.

Linda, writer

I read fiction for pleasure. It’s a real satisfaction when you realize that you have a free evening that you can devote to the good book. I’m finishing the 5th year of study and I work actively on my diploma paper, that’s why I have to read a lot of academic literature (textbooks, monographs, scientific articles, sometimes dissertations). In these cases there’s not so much pleasure, but mostly a search and extraction of necessary and actual information only.

I try to read constantly, two books a month, sometimes there are three (not counting academic literature).

I use rather conservative methods of memorizing information:

1. Reading with a pencil in my hand and marking the parts that I like or need to come back to. As I seldom reread the things that I have read once (why looking behind when there are so many unread books in the world), my pencil notes help me to draw my attention to the most necessary.

2. The most effective way to memorize information for me is to retell it. I always retell the plots of the books I read to my near relations; friends have got used to that issue already: in response to a simple question “How are the things going?” I can declaim the whole monologue dedicated to the book I have just read.

3. Reading aloud. It is helpful especially when you are to remember definitions or poems.

4. Writing reviews on the book you have read. When you are trying to get 300+ pages of a book stated in 7000 symbols, you learn to make squeezing and, of course, you memorize the important.

5. The last method that is, to my regret, not possible every time is reading things that are interesting and captivating for you. This way information will be kept in mind automatically.

So, that is it! I hope that this post will help you to memorize all information that you need. If you have other tips how to remember information, please, write them in the commnets!
