Staff at Wrexham Train Station were left shocked on Saturday 14th May, as a man was captured on CCTV trying to board a train with his pony. The conductor refused to let him onto the train, shortly after the man tried to buy two tickets for him and the pony, which was also refused. The train company in Wales usually allow small animals to travel in a pet carrier or dogs on a lead, as these do not pose a threat to the general public, unlike a Pony which could easily endanger itself & passengers.
Later on further CCTV footage, the man and his pony where seen at the Accident & Emergency unit at Wrexham Maelor Hospital. The man asked the doctor for some treatment for his pony and was declined and ask to leave and take the pony with him, which he did.
The RSPCA are now reviewing the CCTV footage of the man and his pony, and have stated that the station incident was “not a safe nor acceptable manner in which to transport an equine.”
