Rose is a 4 month old Collie who is suffering from a major heart defect called patent duct arteriosus. She has been given only a matters of weeks before she goes into heart failure. The National Animal Welfare Trust (NAWT) in Somerset are currently looking after Rose after she was brought in by her owners as she was deaf. She was bred to become a working dog on a farm but due to not being able to hear the tractors and movements of large vehicles they thought it was unsafe for her to stay.
On examination at the NAWT they discovered she was also suffereing from patent duct arteriosus and would need surgery costing approximately £5,000 to close the artery. Without this surgery she will get heart failure and not survive. The family who brought her in cannot afford this surgery and the charity decided as she was such a good natured dog to try and save her and to rehome her after surgery.
The charity are asking to raise the £5,000 as soon as possible to enable Rose to have her surgery, and today have currently raised £3,510.00. They still have 30% of her fund to go. If you can help please visit their Just Giving Page.
UPDATE: We’ve just made our £20 donation, so there’s now £1,470 remaining.
